| |
|
|
| |
Semansys XBRL Reporter is an easy to use, standard software application that makes XBRL based digital reporting affordable and practical for all companies worldwide. It combines simplicity with power and at the same time hides all XBRL complexity for the user. The product is designed to be easy to use, easy on maintenance and open minded. Even for occasional users, the Reporter is the ideal solution to generate reports from one or more data sources and perform manual entries or modifications where necessary. Vendors of financial software can use the XBRL Reporter to instantly satisfy customer requirements. Organizations can use the software to create filings and reports automatically and straight from their business applications, independent of make or type. |

XBRL Reporter introduces ‘four step digital reporting’: Select report type > Create > Review and Edit > Send |
| |
|
| |
Step 1: Select Report |
|
| |
In this step the user selects the type of reports he wants to create by selecting a template from a list. Theses templates are provided by the software vendor, an accountant or by a regulator. Also companies prepare profiles for internal reporting tasks. For convenience reasons profiles can be grouped by type e.g. tax forms per reporting entity or other grouping. A template refers to a specific XBRL taxonomy.

Step 2: Create the report |
|
| |
In this step the user is prompted to provide some report properties such as the entity, the currency and the reporting period. These details drive the import process, in which data from multiple sources can be transferred into one report in one go. The result is a so called XBRL instance; a report containing the imported data.

Step3: Review and Edit |
|
| |
XBRL as such is practically illegible. For review and necessary edits, The Reporter can present the XBRL report in a familiar lay-out. Using the concepts of XBRL, the user can render the report based on specific views like balance sheet, income or cash flow statement. Also the user can choose to display the report in line with the presentation or calculation structures provided in the taxonomy. On top of that the Reporter has unique features to represent the data in common debit/credit columns or in combined or separate opening balance, flow and closing balance data. This view allows the user to understand the report, check the data and complete or alter the report where required, and execute step 4: Send!

Templates and data import |
|
| |
By using highly customizable report profiles, the application fits in any XBRL reporting process without requiring knowledge of XBRL from users. Templates can describe a reporting task, including the structure and content of a report. The Reporter allows direct import of data to reduce or even remove the need for manual entry. Import profiles can be customized to the expected source data and can be combined to allow multiple imports to be executed in one go. All this enables ‘four step digital reporting’.

Solution for vendors of business software |
|
| |
For software developers the Reporter offers a wide range of methods, procedures and calls including all commands to control the behavior of the XBRL engine underlying the Reporter and for data manipulation. This means that an application can call the engine to perform any XBRL related task at any time. For situations where less tight integration is required, Semansys can offer the Reporter as a separate module on top of an application. This allows software vendors to deliver XBRL capabilities to its customers instantly without any development work. In this approach the Reporter can be privately labeled.
