Book: Taxonomies explained
Semansys has delivered another contribution to the XBRL Community. The well known and much used book “XBRL Taxonomies for beginners and do’ers” which is about explaining XBRL for users has been updated. Annual reporting requirement fulfilled by a single keystroke
Accountants who are using Unit 4 Audition for composing annual reports can communicate more easily and efficiently with the Dutch Tax Authority, the Chamber of Commerce and regulators. A partnership between Semansys Technologies and Unit 4 Agresso Accountancy resulted in easy to use functionality to convert annual reports in the XBRL format.

Semansys co-signs agreement to realize cost reduction for businesses.
On June 9th 2006 a covenant was signed by four Dutch ministries, the main Dutch employers’ organisations and about 50 financial service providers, software vendors and consultancies to introduce the Dutch National Taxonomy. This is a major milestone on the road to reduction of administrative burden that has been laid out by XBRL Netherlands and initiator Semansys in 2002. The nation wide adoption of digital reporting has been made possible by the first large deployment of XBRL for Dutch local government in 2003 and the design of the Dutch National Taxonomy architecture in 2005, two of Semansys’ many ground breaking projects.

Regulator presents
first approved Dutch taxonomy
During the 8th
XBRL International Conference in Seattle the Dutch regulator
CBS (Statistics Netherlands, a department of the Ministry
of Economic Affairs) presented its first official taxonomy.
CBS started working with XBRL this summer and considers themselves
a “second generation taxonomy builder” focussed
on practical use. Marco Roos of CBS was able to create a complete
taxonomy including 641 newly defined reporting items within
about a month, without any training, using the award winning
Semansys XBRL Composer. The CBS taxonomy is used for reporting
by the Dutch Water Boards and includes one of the internally
accepted global taxonomies. The taxonomy was well received
by the XBRL specialists assembled in the Domain working group
of XBRL International. Currently Marco is working on new taxonomies
for use by municipalities and various other decentral government
entities.

Dutch Water Boards
select Semansys’ XBRL solutions
Efficiency and
quality gains are the driving forces behind the decision to
apply digital reporting and Semansys’ solutions by 16
of the Dutch Water Boards. The Water Boards, CBS and leading
vendors have teamed up to realize one of the first implementations
of XBRL. The start of a wide deployment of XBRL in Dutch local
government.

Dutch Central
Government about XBRL: Adopt or Explain.
The Ministry of
the Interior of The Netherlands informed all 489 municipalities
and 12 provinces about the requirement to provide financial
reports in XBRL as from 2004. This initiative is part of a
larger national program to improve the quality of external
information provisioning and involves quarterly reporting
to the regulator CBS. Semansys is working with the major accounting
software vendors to ‘XBRL-enable’ their applications
and meet their customers’ deadlines.
